Gregory University approves 20% salary increase for workers.



Gregory University Uturu ( GUU ), a premier private university in Abia state has announced a 15 and 20 % salary increase for it’s academic and non – academic staff respectively with effect from February , 2024.

Acting Public Relations Officer ( PRO ) Ebubechi Iwuh stated in a press release that this upward salary adjustment approved by the university’s Founder, Professor Gregory Ibe, is a strategic step to alleviate the financial challenges faced by the staff amidst the current economic downturn in Nigeria.

PRO also stated that Gregory University, being at the forefront of educational innovation in Nigeria and recognizes the importance of its human resources in achieving its mission of providing top-tier education, added that this pay raise is also a way of appreciating the workforce for their sacrificial commitment and dedication to the development of the institution since inception.

According to the PRO , noting that GUU dedicated staff is the foundation upon which the university’s success is built, Professor Ibe believes that by increasing staff emoluments and supporting them in other ways, it is strengthening it’s ability to provide the best educational services and experience for the students.

She ( PRO ) recalled that in a bid to mitigate the challenging realities of the harsh economic environment including during the COVID -19 Pandemic era, Prof Ibe had directed the implementation of many welfare interventions, including distribution of food items and salary bonuses.
